The entire staff of the Advance Auto Parts near me, collectively, did not know what a relay is. $60 and two other unrelated stores later I found the mysterious artifacts

Version 2, finished. One more of these to go then the three really simple little boards

Because it’s just that metal. (In foreground: hilariously band-aided tpic6595. Remember how they used to do this jumpering in the 90s? I never grew up

Ahh perfboard….

Finally. The damn thing works. The slightly longer bar at right of center shows player 1 won the race. Just wanted to make that clear for no useful reason. XD

All the way to the right is the cooling fan I never knew existed until it started hooting. Hooting like an owl. Ya rly!

Thanks but I’ll pass

Old school op amp. These giant bricks were common until the early 90s or so where high precision amplifiers were needed. Modern parts aren’t this big and fun

Su’scon capacitors. Suss. ….. boggle

It never looks this bad once constructed :3

Kudos to Jameco for using reusable and recyclable packaging, with biodegradable box and stuffing. Giant groooan for using so much of it :)
